Favourite New Skin Care Finds (and the kindest founder ever!)

I first discovered Cocoon Apothecary when I was searching for some rose skin care products (if you know me, you will understand! #neverenoughrose)

It was exciting to discover a Canadian business based on essential oils, which produces beautiful skin care products and is only a stones throw away from Niagara! Cocoon Apothecary was founded in 2003 by Jessica Burman, based on a desire to create transformative botanical skin care products for everyone. The company is located in Kitchener, Ontario and has a sister spa where the products are put into play in pampering treatments.

I love blending my own face oils but formulating skin creams is more complicated. I have fallen in love with Cocoon’s Rosey Cheeks, which includes nourishing oils (rosehip, avocado, green tea), shea butter and rose extract. Interestingly, Cocoon favours rose absolute for skin care due to the beneficial properties of the absolute extraction process.

Rosey Cheeks has become an important part of my skin care routine, especially before bed. I top it with my face oil (or blend them together) and wake up with super soft skin.

What I love about Cocoon Apothecary:

Aromatherapy Based. These products incorporate some of the most beautiful and precious oils such as rose and orange blossom. These oils are recognized for their beneficial properties for the skin, and the experience of using the oils (and their gorgeous aromas) is so therapeutic.
A commitment to sustainability. Cocoon Apothecary products are Ecocert Cosmos certified for their commitment to quality, health, and sustainability. The company also has a bottle return program, which is an amazing way to reduce cosmetic waste.
A streamlined routine. I LOVE that there aren’t hundreds of products for sale. Each product is thoughtful, has a purpose, and provides various benefits for the skin. Each product is priced so well and goes a very long way.
The Nicest Founder Ever! I reached out to the company to see if I could interview founder Jessica for my final paper for aromatherapy certification. She very graciously gave me her time for an interview, and I was able to ask her many questions about skin care, aromatherapy, and her perspective on beauty. She is lovely and so knowledgeable.
