In my efforts to use more natural products I’ve replaced many of my skin and hair care products with more natural versions. I use a lot of Beautycounter, Saje, and my own blends however I could never find an all-natural perfume that I loved.
Aerin Lauder’s Rose de Grasse pour filles is my longtime favourite scent and I still wear it religiously, but I was always on the hunt for something that was based on natural ingredients, had intriguing components and that had an interesting story behind it.
I discovered Lvnea at Garden City Essentials and the owner, Jolene, told me about the beautiful botanical fragrances that are hand-blended in Montreal and have such a unique fragrance profile. I love roses and was delighted to find a handful of rose scents on their website. Not only are the fragrances infused with different varieties of roses but they are blended with interesting ingredients like saffron and have lush, lyrical descriptions:
- Rose Fantôme contains rose, immortelle and cèpes and is inspired by a Parisian cemetery and the scent of a rose that has been left and forgotten.
- Babylon Rose is inspired by the legendary gardens and biblical floodwater…it is a sensual, spicy and rose perfume. My current favourite!
Everything connected with Lvnea is mesmerizing…the poetic descriptions of the scents (they all tell a story!), the beautiful images of the flowers, and the obvious devotion to botanicals in the company and its founder April Lea. Lea is the founder and perfumer who, according to the website “creates dark, complex, and unisex liquid and solid perfumes exclusively from natural materials and plant essences.”
I’m obsessed with two Lvnea perfumes right now: Babylon Rose and Apothecary Rose (a crème perfume). I also love the Larmes de Rose facial serum, which includes prickly pear seed oil and rose essential oil (of course!) as well as carrot seed and jasmine. It smells so rich and it’s lovely to use for face massage.
