mini-post: packing the perfect gym bag!

This is the perfect time of year to refresh your gym bag and pare it back to the essentials! Over my years of going to the gym and teaching fitness, I’ve curated(!) what I think are the best to include in your bag. Let me know what you think and if I’m missing anything that you think is important to have…

Gym Bag Essentials:

  • running shoes (I always buy what’s on sale, usually New Balance or Nike because they have a narrower fit)
  • flip flops – my best showers are at the gym! (no interruptions 😊)
  • stojo collapsible water bottle (perfect in case you forget to pack water)
  • fitness instructor stuff (mic belt, bag with extra batteries, cords, ancient ipod in case phone dies, mini straw for inflating core balls, LED candles & motivational quotes for yoga classes)
  • barre socks
  • Saje essential oil blends (Stress release is my fave for yoga) – I love that Saje has the dropper end as well as the roller….feels a little easier to offer a few drops to anyone who wishes to try.
  • lock & kleenex
  • shower stuff – perfect place to use up samples, small sizes, and I always have pink lipgloss or lipstick, hand sanitizer

What else would you add?

About Me

I’m Justine, the creator of this blog and a full-time academic librarian, with a passion for fitness.

I believe that everyone deserves to feel valued and strong in their own body. My love of movement started in ballet, where I learned that strength and grace aren’t opposites — and my life as a busy, working mom of three taught me that self-care has to be realistic to matter. I bring both of those things into every class: grace, positivity, and the belief that you are worthy of feeling good.
